The 2023 Winter Universiade is taking place in Lake Placid, USA, from January 12 to 22

78 athletes represent our country.
Including skiing - 14, short track - 12, biathlon - 9, figure skating and speed skating - 6, snowboarding, skiing, jumping off of the pedestal and combined - 2, competitions in ice hockey - 23.

The history of the Universiade Games dates back to 1924. Until 1959, it was known as the World University Games. Since the same year, it has been recognized as a Universiade. Participation requirements were introduced into it. According to it, boys and girls who have reached the age of 17 and are not older than 28 will have the opportunity to participate in these games.

On January 14, Kazakh biathlete Vadim Kurales was the first to cross the finish line in singles at a distance of 15 kilometers and brought the first gold to the piggy bank.

So far, Kazakhstan's national team shares ninth place in the medals table with Estonia with one gold medal.
