Activities of the Research Institute "Agrobiology»

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, as in many countries, an independent system of higher education with its own characteristics has emerged and developed. In a certain period, this provided a high level of training and met the needs of a developed industrial society. But today it faces challenges such as the rapid obsolescence of knowledge and the need to change the paradigm of basic education, as in other countries. At the same time, the transition period caused the need for mass retraining of new and reformed social institutions. These problems are reflected in the state documents related to the modernization of education in the country, in the address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev. The complexity of their solution is compounded by the lack of budget funding and the lack of effective economic ties that prevent the creation of a special multi-vector system of financial support for education, especially higher education.

The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has decided to support the education system, but this does not exempt educational institutions from the need to independently develop and implement their own development strategies. Taraz Innovative University for the Humanities is also engaged in the reform of its activities based on the analysis of international experience and its adaptation to our national traditions, taking into account the needs of modern society. The university has developed its own development strategy, taking into account the state of the Zhambyl region and the demand for specialists in the region.

Modern society constantly needs a stream of new ideas, technologies and products. Technologies that require updated knowledge require creative, active, and qualified specialists who constantly improve their knowledge.

As a result, the traditional concept of education and upbringing based on the transfer of a set of knowledge and skills will be replaced by new educational programs based on the formation of independent creative abilities. The educational process is combined with labor productivity and research activities, and the process of education continues throughout a person's life.

This means that the training of highly qualified specialists at TIGU is carried out not only at lectures in the classrooms of the university, but also in the course of research work, during practical classes. Knowledge based on the integration of science, education and innovation is one of the key factors in the development of the economy and society.

Taraz Innovative University for the Humanities uses a multi-level system of professional education. During the entire period of study or after the specialization of students, the educational process goes in parallel with the research and production work.

The integration of science and education is very important to ensure the competitiveness of university graduates. This determines the quality of training of young specialists working in academic and branch scientific organizations, the level of further scientific achievements and their applied potential. The integration allows not only university teachers to actively participate in scientific research, but also makes it possible to create professional educational programs and provide laboratory equipment corresponding to the current state of science. This will allow students, turning their knowledge into a new purposeful tool of knowledge, to participate in research on current issues. In addition, it will give students the opportunity to participate in the growth and development of large scientific and pedagogical schools. As a result, future researchers will get acquainted at the early stages of training with various aspects of the organization of scientific creativity, theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for solving large complex problems.

In 2014, Taraz Innovation and Humanities University (hereinafter-TIGU) established a modern innovative research and production structure-the Agrobiological Research Institute (hereinafter - the Institute). The created Institute is designed to combine applied science and the educational process. This integration structure will simultaneously perform the functions of a subject of innovation activity, i.e. a direct active participant in the innovation process engaged in the production of agricultural products in the Zhambyl region.

The University has set new promising tasks for the development of scientific support for the vegetable growing industry for the staff of AgroNIA. The production of vitamin products is not the only task that will be solved in the created scientific and production complex. Here, TIGU students will study technologies in the greenhouse economy, organize seminars for farmers, entrepreneurs engaged in the greenhouse business. Specialists of the newly opened Agronomy will study how successfully certain varieties of vegetables in the closed ground adapt to local conditions and give appropriate recommendations for agricultural producers in the region. For the same purpose, an extensive garden was created next to the greenhouses, in which apple trees were planted.

Currently, one of the main elements of the functioning of AgroNIA is the learning process, in which students gain knowledge in practice, that is, purposeful training of qualified personnel for the agro-industrial complex in production conditions is conducted. In the future development of the Institute, it is planned to create an innovative and educational structure that unites TIGU, the Institute and production enterprises for the training and retraining of highly qualified specialists with their focus on advanced production technologies in the agro-industrial complex.

The ongoing work on the creation of a regional System for the dissemination of knowledge in the agro-industrial complex (Extension) will cover a wide range of areas in scientific and educational activities. The existing infrastructure will make it possible to conduct training seminars for managers and specialists of peasant and farm farms on a regular basis. The thematic plan of advanced training courses will address the issues of adaptation and transfer of resource-saving innovative technologies in the field of agriculture.

In order to integrate the Institute with the domestic scientific community, in November 2014, memoranda were signed on cooperation in the field of scientific and technical, information and analytical, and regulatory and methodological support for agricultural industries with the Joint-Stock Company " KazAgroInnovation "and its two subsidiaries" Kazakh Research Institute of Fruit and Viticulture "and"Kazakh Research Institute of Potato and Vegetable Growing".

The following areas are identified as scientific priorities::

1. In the field of fruit growing and viticulture:

- genetic methods of designing and accelerated creation of new genotypes of fruit, berry, nut-bearing crops and grapes with specified economically valuable characteristics;

- physiological and biochemical methods of increasing the adaptive potential and productivity of fruit plants and grapes;

- methods of rapid diagnostics of the state of plants, viral and phytoplasma diseases;

- quality, environmental and food safety management;

- agroecological zoning of the territories of southern Kazakhstan;

- biologization of production (processes, methods, means);

- monitoring and development of software methods for managing the production processes of fruit crops and grapes;

- design of functional food products based on the processing of products from the horticulture and viticulture industries;

- organizational and economic fundamentals of gardening and viticulture;

2. In the field of potato and vegetable growing:

- innovative technologies in vegetable and potato growing (new in agricultural technology, precision technologies, biotechnological methods, plant protection);

- selection and seed production of vegetable crops and potatoes, improvement of genetic methods of designing and accelerated creation of new genotypes of vegetables and potatoes with specified economically valuable characteristics;

- agriculture and agrochemistry (vegetable and potato crop rotations, fertilizer systems);

- physiological and biochemical methods of increasing the adaptive potential and productivity of vegetables and potatoes;

- methods of rapid diagnostics of the state of plants, viral and phytoplasma diseases;

- quality management, environmental and food safety;

- mechanization, automation, storage and processing of vegetable and potato products;

- management and marketing in vegetable and potato growing, organizational and economic bases of vegetable and potato growing.

These areas of AgroNIA's activity - "science-education-production" - are not just three separate spheres of economic activity, but a complex of interrelated and mutually dependent processes.

Science and education are interconnected and objectively cannot exist without each other. The solution of many problems of the development of scientific and educational activities depends on their effective interaction. Science enriches education with new knowledge, develops new, progressive teaching methods, and education serves as a source that feeds science with young personnel. Only thanks to the accelerated development of science and education, it is possible to develop and effectively apply various innovative projects and programs.

Thus, the traditional functions of TIGU - training of specialists and applied scientific research-are complemented by the active activity of AgroNIA in the development and transfer of new technologies to the agro-industrial complex.

In the future, it is necessary to integrate training programs of higher professional education and conduct basic and applied research, as well as combine research and development work with the further transfer of scientific knowledge to business. The first steps towards the integration of "science, education and production" have been taken, but this is only the first step!
